Heart Diseases

Our habits, lifestyle and even our body change with age and time. It is expected that as we grow old our metabolism slows down and we are more susceptible to diseases which are often associated with old age. There are common health problems that usually affect senior citizens and these include high blood pressure, heart ailments, joint pains, cancer and tuberculosis. These health problems need immediate attention, regular checkup to prevent complications since slow healing is expected due to old age.
Senior citizens need to be careful with what they eat and what they do everyday since their bodies are now deteriorating and are more vulnerable. High blood pressure is common among elderly people and can trigger other illnesses like stroke or kidney problems. High blood pressure refers to the large force applied in pushing the blood to the arterial wall which can cause damage to the body.
This means that elderly people should always monitor and understand their blood pressure. Furthermore, they should be careful in the activities they do to avoid high blood pressure. Another illness that senior citizens often suffer from is joint pain. This is inevitable because our bones get weak and frail as we grow older so most aged people suffer and complain about joint pains. Taking calcium in the early years can be helpful in avoiding severe joint pains. Many senior citizens also experience heart ailments which can really affect their lifestyle and can most likely shorten their life.
With coronary heart diseases, most patients will suffer from unbearable heart attacks, fatigue and shortness of breath. If not sent immediately to the hospital, a patient can die from heart attack. Aged people who know they have heart ailment should always be accompanied by a younger person wherever they are so that in case they feel pain in the chest they can right away be accompanied to the hospital. As expected, senior citizens has a high chance of suffering from memory loss and some elderly people experience brain disorders such as dementia.
The most common form of dementia is Alzheimer's disease.Alzheimer's disease can affect a person's capacity to do his/her daily tasks and can also cause memory loss. Aged people suffering from Alzheimer's disease will have difficulty remembering things including events and later on they can no longer recognize people not even their relatives, children or grand children. There is no known cure for Alzheimer's except that there are drugs that can slow down the worsening of the condition.Since getting old is inevitable, we should take care of our body while we are still young.
